MERIJN HOS

Illustrator for: Vineyard Daniele Gregoris

Merijn Hos is an artist and illustrator based in Utrecht,
the Netherlands, whose appreciation for the traditional and curiosity for the future made him the perfect match for Daniele Gregoris’ innovative wines.

MERIJN’S STYLE

There is a paradoxical spirit in Merijn’s work, which expresses a gentle melancholy and longing for the past combined with an evident curiosity
about the future. These themes are also reflected in his use of materials, employing both analogue and digital techniques. Merijn is passionately curious about new technology, and often finds that his most exciting work results from experimentation and working in unknown territory.

IDEA TO ART

There is no focus on one specific medium, instead Merijn considers what approach will best suit the ideas he has. When it comes to motion projects
he usually collaborates with his brother, the
motion designer Jurriaan Hos, with whom he also occasionally designs interactive installations. In his fine-art work for exhibitions, Merijn likes to create holistic experiences in which everything is inter-reactive within a space. The effect is to evoke a distinctive feeling in those who enter into the work.

MERIJN’S INSPIRATION
FOR DANIELE GREGORIS

This focus on mood and atmosphere made Merijn the right choice to create the visuals for Issimo’s Vineyard Daniele Gregoris wines, where the mysterious and magical spirit of the mountainous region is so prevalent, and where the winemaker combines the traditional techniques of previous family generations with innovation and modern non-invasive farming methods.
